Activities, Installations and Mobile Plant are authorised or registered as exempt from Environmental Permits under the Environmental permitting Regulations, the latest amended version in England and Wales having come into force 27th February 2013. The new regulations have an impact across the industrial sectors and see the enactment of the Industrial Emissions Directive (IED). The IPPC Directive requires Best Available Techniques (BAT) to be employed and where indicative BAT’s are not specified or the operator chooses to use an alternative measure, then this should be explained on the basis of costs and benefits, and an Environmental Risk Assessment.
